Mexico Asks U.S. To Ban Popular Semi-Auto Rifles

posted on August 24, 2016

According to a recent report at GlobalTimes.cn, Mexico’s foreign minister has chosen to meddle in the U.S. gun-control debate, calling on Congress to restrict the sale of so-called “assault weapons” in the United States.

Foreign Minister Ruiz Massier made the call at a recent meeting of the UN Arms Trade Treaty in Switzerland, saying the guns “cause harm on both sides of the border.”

Perhaps instead of calling on banning of common, popular semi-automatic rifles in the United States, Mexico should work on outlawing those guns in their own country if they deem them to be a problem. What’s that you say? They’re already illegal? Problem solved, then, unless somehow criminals still find a way to acquire banned guns and use them in their violent endeavors.

What’s likely more of a problem to law-abiding Mexican citizens than semi-automatic rifles being sold to law-abiding Americans is the 2,000-plus rifles that the ATF intentionally sent across the border and lost track of a few years back. The agency and the Obama administration have been trying to cover up the truth about the fiasco ever since. Anyone remember Operation Fast and Furious?
