Washington Councilman Pushes For 2A Sanctuary Status

posted on September 26, 2016

Alarmed by Washington state Attorney General Bob Ferguson’s announcement he would seek a ban on common semi-automatic rifles that he erroneously calls “assault weapons,” a Spokane Valley councilman is trying to head off that assault on the right to keep and bear arms.

“These weapons have no place in civilian use,” Ferguson claimed in making the announcement earlier this month. As a result, Councilman Caleb Collier is now proposing to make Spokane Valley a “Second Amendment Sanctuary City.”

While the sanctuary city proclamation wouldn’t give Spokane Valley the authority to cease state and federal gun law enforcement, it could be used as a lobbying tool and to send a message to state legislators, Councilman Ed Pace told The Spokesman-Review.
