Savannah Homeowner Stops Home Intruder

posted on September 9, 2016

Police are investigating an armed home invasion that turned into a shootout late Sunday evening in a quiet Savannah, Ga., residential neighborhood.

The Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to an emergency call around 10 p.m. stating that an unknown man had entered the darkened residence and been discovered by the homeowner. Investigators told WSAV-3 that the unknown male intruder then exchanged gunfire with the owner, and the burglary suspect was shot before he fled the scene in an unknown direction.

The homeowner escaped without injury, leaving the home before calling the police. The shooting is still under investigation and anyone with knowledge of the case can call the SCMPD tip line anonymously at 912-525-3124. Relevant information may qualify for a reward.
