Police Favor Gun Rights Over Gun Control

posted on January 13, 2017

America’s police officers strongly support protecting citizens’ right to keep and bear arms, according to brand-new research.

A Pew Research Center survey released on Wednesday revealed that police officers support protecting rights over passing more gun control by a three-to-one margin. In addition, two out of three officers also oppose banning so-called “assault weapons.”

Results from the study revealed that 74 percent of officers believe it’s most important to “protect the right of Americans to own guns,” while 25 percent want greater efforts to “control gun ownership.”

The Pew survey was drawn from “the attitudes and experiences of nearly 8,000 policemen and women from departments with at least 100 officers.”
