Two men come to your back door late at night, saying they’re having car trouble and need to use the phone. Many in this position, especially those with children, would take the view that it’s better to be safe than sorry.
However, Jessica and Brandon Robinson were kind enough to let one of the men make a call. As they were leaving, one of the suspects—Allen Thompson—hit Brandon over the head with a gun and pushed his way into the apartment, cornering Jessica in the kitchen. The two robbers stole over $1,000, then headed to the back bedroom where Jessica’s two children were asleep.
That prompted Jessica to snap into action, grabbing her hidden firearm. After shooting one of the intruders, both suspects immediately fled, firing back as they scrambled. They were quickly arrested at a nearby hospital. As Jessica later told Columbus ABC 6, “I know there’s a good chance we’d be dead right now if I hadn’t grabbed my gun.”
Iowa Lawmakers Back Pro-Gun Constitutional Amendment
Some 29 Iowa state senators have co-sponsored Senate Joint Resolution 2 (SJR2), which would add explicit constitutional protection for the right to keep and bear arms. SJR2 would add the following to the Iowa state constitution: “The right of an individual to acquire, keep, possess, transport, carry, transfer, and use arms to defend life and liberty and for all other legitimate purposes is fundamental and shall not be infringed upon or denied.”
Iowa residents, contact your senator and representative in Des Moines and urge them to help prevent the kinds of gun bans imposed in California, Maryland or New York by supporting SJR2. To find your elected officials, pleaseclick here.
Minnesota Constitutional Carry And Castle Doctrine Bills Need Your Support
Two pro-gun bills were introduced last week in the Minnesota legislature—House File 188, which would make Minnesota the 12th state to embrace Constitutional (Permitless) Carry, and House File 238, which would allow crime victims to meet force with force by lifting the “duty to retreat.” These bills need your vocal support.
HF 188 would strengthen your right to keep and bear arms by allowing lawful, peaceable adults to carry concealed firearms for self-defense without conditions or prior restraint. Although it would not eliminate Minnesota’s current carry permitting system, the law would eliminate government-mandated time delays, taxes and conditions imposed upon your fundamental right to self-defense.

Minnesota residents, please contact your legislators in Saint Paul and urge them to vote YES on HF188 and HF238. You can identify and contact your legislators byclicking here.
Colorado: Bill To Reverse Magazine Ban Introduced In Senate
A bill designed to repeal Colorado’s ban on magazines holding more than 15 rounds or featuring a removable floorplate has been introduced in the state Senate.
The ban, passed in 2013, was opposed by both the law enforcement community, who called the measure “unenforceable,” and law-abiding Colorado gun owners, who owned an estimated 300,000 such magazines. However, an influx of money and influence from out-of-state interests—including former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg—overwhelmed the heavy opposition from constituents and helped propel the measure through the House and Senate by razor-thin margins before being signed by Governor John Hickenlooper.
Use Your Power!
It’s imperative that Colorado residents contact their state representative and state senator now and urge them to support S.B. 17 when it comes up for a vote. To find your lawmakers.click here.
