Illinois Ban On Trigger Modification Dies In House

posted on October 28, 2017

The Illinois House of Representatives has defeated a measure that would place a ban on popular “trigger modification devices.”

The measure, House Bill 4117, mirrors federal legislation proposed by U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., and could have potentially banned firearm modifications such as competition triggers, muzzle brakes, and ergonomic changes popular with law-abiding gun owners that make their firearms more suitable for self-defense, competition, hunting or even overcoming disability.

According to a report from NRA-ILA, the Illinois legislature is currently convened for a veto session, and several gun control bills, including gun and magazine bans, are scheduled for consideration. Illinois gun owners are encouraged to contact their state representative and urge him or her to oppose Senate Bill 1657 and House Bills 4107 and 4112.
