NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris W. Cox joined Fox News’ Tucker Carlson Tonight on Thursday, where he made it known that NRA will not allow a Dianne Feinstein, Chuck Schumer-led legislative circus to threaten the right of every law-abiding American to protect themselves with a firearm.
“Let ATF do their job and Congress needs to do their job,” Cox said. “Allow good, honest people the ability to defend themselves. Pass reforms like National Right to Carry Reciprocity.”
Cox’s appearance on Fox News came on the same day he and Wayne LaPierre released a joint statement, which called on the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) to immediately review whether bump stocks comply with federal law.
“Barack Obama’s administration approved the sale of bump stocks and these other devices. What we said is ATF needs to do their job,” Cox told Carlson. “At the same time, Congress needs to do their job and make sure that they’re going with meaningful solutions to these underlying problems, including respecting the Second Amendment. And we’re going to be there making sure we’re protecting the Second Amendment.”
Cox reiterated the NRA’s statement, saying the NRA remains focused on its mission of “strengthening Americans' Second Amendment freedom to defend themselves, their families and their communities.”
He also left no room for confusion on where the NRA stands when it comes to the rights of its members and lawful gun owners. “There needs to be an honest conversation about solutions that work,” Cox said. “One of those solutions is making sure the Second Amendment is supported, protected, and that law-abiding good people have the ability to use and carry a gun for self-defense.”
