President Donald Trump made a victorious appearance at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) Friday morning.
The president’s speech focused on assuring the enthusiastic crowd that he will champion the party’s policy priorities, including defending the right to keep and bear arms.
“And by the way, we will protect our Second Amendment,” Trump said.
Trump also recognized NRA CEO and Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre and NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris W. Cox, which drew roaring applause and a standing ovation from the crowd.
“You know Wayne and Chris are here from the NRA,” the president noted. “And they’re great people, and by the way, they love our country. They love our country.”
He reiterated: “The NRA has been a great supporter. They love our country.”
This was Donald Trump’s fifth time addressing CPAC, making him only the fourth president to do so. As former President Ronald Reagan said in 1985, “CPAC is the opportunity to dance with the one who brung ya.”
