During NRATV’s live CPAC coverage, Grant Stinchfield and Cam Edwards talked with NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris Cox about a recent decision by the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals; the court ruled that “the banned assault weapons and large-capacity magazines,” including AR-15s, “are not constitutionally protected arms.”
“That precedent they set is going to come back and bite them,” Cox said. “This is going to end up in front of the Supreme Court at some point, which is why it’s so important to call your senators and tell them to get Neil Gorsuch on the court.”
On January 31, President Trump nominated federal Judge Neil Gorsuch of the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals to the U.S. Supreme Court, a space left empty by the unexpected death of Justice Antonin Scalia in February 2016.
Echoing Wayne LaPierre’s speech earlier today, Cox added that the Fourth Circuit’s “judicial activism” is an example of “unelected bureaucrats” making decisions.
“It flies in the face of the law and in the face of common sense to suggest that the most popular rifle in America isn’t commonly owned and isn’t protected by the Second Amendment.”
Stay tuned with NRATV for continuing coverage of CPAC.
