Omaha Barber Stops Armed Robbery

An armed robber targeting an Omaha barber shop got more than he bargained for Friday morning.

According to local media, a man walked into the shop in south Omaha with a shotgun, pointed it at one barber and told him to fill his backpack with money. What the robber was unaware of was that the brothers who ran the shop had plans in case such an event occurred.

"When he cocked the thing in my face to me and my customer, that's when I know he wasn't playing, I kind of looked at my brother and I threw my wallet on the floor, and then my brother knew what to do next," the barber told KETV NewsWatch 7.

The brother, who carries a gun when in the shop, pulled his gun and ordered to robber to put the shotgun down. When the robber fired a shot at him instead, the brother shot him several times, sending him crawling out the door. Charges are pending against the attempted robber, who is still hospitalized.

Zinke Confirmation Vote Coming This Week

The U.S. Senate is set to hold a confirmation vote this week for U.S. Rep. Ryan Zinke, President Donald Trump’s nominee for secretary of the interior.

As we’ve noted before, Zinke is a hunter, angler and former Navy SEAL who understands the important role hunting and the shooting sports play in the stewardship of our nation’s public lands. In fact, during a confirmation hearing last month, Zinke said, “It was on these lands that my father [taught me] to hunt and fish, and the Boy Scouts taught me the principles [of] environmental stewardship and the importance of public access.”

During his time in Congress, Zinke has also been a strong supporter of legislation that would greatly enhance hunting and shooting opportunities on America’s public lands.
