After the meeting, Bloomberg-funded Everytown for Gun Safety made a Facebook post showing Trump and LaPierre sitting together, and wrote: “This picture is worth a thousand words, and in this case, none of them are good.”
In fact, the picture is worth a thousand words. But in reality, all of them are good. NRA members and other gun owners strongly supported Trump in the election, and his promises about the Supreme Court were one big reason. Now the president has lived up to those promises—much to the chagrin of the crybabies at Everytown and other gun-ban groups.
Armed Vietnam Vet Stops Robbery Attempt
A 70-year-old Vietnam veteran with a concealed-carry permit shot two men who were trying to rob him at gunpoint Thursday morning in St. Louis.
According to local media reports, the man was dropping off a friend when two young men pulled up beside him, pointed a gun at him and attempted to rob him. The vet responded by opening fire with his concealed handgun, killing 19-year-old suspect Billy Dickerson and injuring 23-year-old suspect Perry Richardson.
"He feared for his own life,” said Madison County State's Attorney Tom Gibbons. “He feared for the life of his friend and just took decisive action in that moment."
Authorities said the self-defense actions could help solve dozens of other crimes in the area, as both suspects were wanted for other violent crimes in Missouri and Illinois.
AG Nominee Sessions To Be Considered By Full Senate This Week
Following a very contentious hearing in the Senate Judiciary Committee last week, President Donald Trump’s nominee for U.S. attorney general, Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., will be considered by the full Senate this week.
As we’ve reported before, Sessions is a strong supporter of the Second Amendment. Among other things, he argued for passage of the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act; led the charge against anti-gun Supreme Court nominees Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan; voted to prohibit gun confiscation during a declared state of emergency; and opposed bans on semi-automatic modern sporting rifles—the most popular rifles in the country.
“I do believe the Second Amendment is a personal right, it’s a historic right of the American people …” Session said during his confirmation hearing. “It’s just as much a part of the Constitution as any of the other great rights and liberties that we value.”
