As the confirmation hearings for SCOTUS nominee Neil Gorsuch end, the political games begin. But the question remains as to what lengths Democrats are willing to go to block Trump’s pick for the high court. Conservative radio host David Webb joined NRATV’s Stinchfield Monday to share his insights on the gridlock. “Well they’re holding him up for pure politics. The fact is that many of those Democrats voted for Judge Gorsuch before,” he said.
Webb argued that even though Gorsuch sailed through his hearings, getting confirmed will not be that easy: “It’s all about obstruction—the more they hold up Judge Gorsuch. It’s not necessarily about him, but it’s about holding up Supreme Court cases, because they know they will be able to hold off until there’s a confirmation as long as possible—maybe even pushing some of those important cases into the next Supreme Court calendar.”
He continued: “There’s a strategy there that has nothing to do with the effectiveness of the Court and the workings of the Court, but rather to make sure that they block the Trump agenda or that they block the Supreme Court possibly hearing cases they may lose.”
