“Right now, as we sit here and talk, Grant, we don’t have a majority on the Supreme Court for the basic right to keep a gun in your home to defend yourself,” Cox said during an interview with NRATV’s Grant Stinchfield. “So now we have an opportunity to replace Scalia with a true conservative constitutionalist in Judge Gorsuch. And the Democrats—as you mentioned—are fighting it for no reason, no valid reason other than pure politics. Which is why it’s so important that if they filibuster this—and it looks like that’s the road they’re going down—then the Republicans need to be prepared to go with the nuclear option.”
He continued: “It’s not changing the Senate precedent, it’s going back to the Senate precedent of not having Supreme Court justices filibustered for no reason.”
Cox also used the interview to remind NRA members that they play an instrumental role in preserving the Second Amendment.
“We have to make sure that there are 51 votes to go back to that Constitutional principle. So, we need all of our members—all of your listeners and viewers—to call your Senators. Tell them: ‘No deals on the Constitution. No deals on freedom. Confirm Judge Gorsuch to the Supreme Court, and let’s get back to work.’”
