NYT Doubles Down On Stupid After WaPo Reveals Suppressor Lies

posted on March 28, 2017

The New York Times has doubled down on lies by anti-gun groups that suppressor legislation will make life easier for criminals while not helping hunters and sport shooters.

Just last Monday, Washington Post fact checker Glenn Kessler gave Gabby Giffords’ gun-control group 3 Pinocchio’s for spouting the oft-repeated lie that “active shooters” can use silencers to avoid “being detected by trained law enforcement professionals.” Kessler wrote: “There is little that’s quiet about a firearm with a silencer unless one also thinks a jackhammer is quiet.”

Yet just a few days later, in a mocking story titled “Echoes Of Gunfire Hurt Tender NRA Ears,” the Times made the same claim: “When it comes to public health, the noisier a gun is the better the chances for innocent bystanders to hit the ground and for police officers to apprehend the shooter.”

Such inaccurate statements make us wonder whether the Times should change its motto to “All The Fake News That’s Fit To Print.”
