Veteran Facing Federal Charges For Hanging American Flag

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton joined NRATV’s Stinchfield Friday to discuss what the government watchdog is doing to defend a veteran facing charges for displaying Old Glory outside of a Veteran Affairs building.

The veteran, Robert Rosebrock, posted two napkin-sized flags on the outside fence of a VA facility in Los Angeles during a protest on Memorial Day. According to Judicial Watch, since 2008, Rosebrock and a group of fellow veterans “have assembled at the gate weekly and on Memorial Day to protest the VA’s failure to make full use of the property to benefit veterans, particularly those who are homeless.”

“I would suggest the Veterans Affairs people out in Los Angeles don’t like him because he’s always there protesting the use of a giant facility—it’s in the middle of Los Angeles—that’s supposed to be used on behalf of veterans, but is used on behalf of the community,” Fitton said. “He objects to that, and other veterans object to that. Especially given the crisis of veteran care these days.”

The obscure case was initiated under President Barack Obama’s DOJ, but is set to go to trial in federal court next month. If convicted, Rosebrock could serve up to six months in jail.
