Michigan Senior Citizen Shoots Dog Attacking His Wife

posted on March 6, 2017

A 73-year-old Woodhaven, Mich., woman was walking her Labrador when the dog was attacked by two pit bulls. While she succeeded in pulling the pit bulls away from her dog, they soon fixed upon another target—her.

According to local media reports, the woman’s husband, a retired police officer, was approaching the house when he heard his wife screaming. He pulled his gun and shot one of the pit bulls twice, then finally had to use a brick to break the dog away from his wife. The dog later died.

Thenewsherald.com reported that the woman suffered gashes and about 40 puncture wounds, mostly to her hands and arms. The husband told police it was fortunate he came home when he did, because his wife otherwise might have been killed.
