Fla.—Important Measures To Be Heard In Senate Committee Today

Two critical self-defense bills will be heard in Florida’s Senate Judiciary Committee between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. today, and both need the support of Sunshine State gun owners.

SB 646, by state Sen. Greg Steube, removes the criminal penalties for violations of the state’s open carry law and prohibits a person who has a concealed firearms license from being arrested and charged with a crime if their firearm becomes exposed to the sight of another person. SB 616, also by Sen. Steube, allows a concealed firearms licensee to temporarily store a firearm with courthouse security when entering a courthouse, and provides for return upon departure.

NRA-ILA is encouraging Florida gun owners to immediately contact their senate members and urge them to support SB 616 and SB 646. To make sure you message gets to all committee members, copy and paste the following email addresses into the “Send To” box on your email program:
