Last Thursday, shortly after midnight, a Las Vegas man called 911 to report an intruder had broken into his apartment—and that he had been forced to shoot.
Lt. Dan McGrath of the Metro Police Department told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that the apartment dweller had heard a loud “bang, bang, bang” before a man burst through the front door holding a gun. At that point, the resident shot and killed the charging intruder. The apartment resident was outside with his gun and a friend when police arrived and asked him to surrender the gun, which he placed on the ground.
The preliminary investigation revealed forced entry on the front door, and police quickly labeled it a robbery/home invasion. However, McGrath said it was not clear whether there was a connection between the intruder and the resident.
