NRA Endorses Luther Strange In Alabama Special Election

posted on May 26, 2017

NRA-PVF has announced its endorsement of Luther Strange for the United States Senate. Strange served as attorney general of Alabama from 2011 until 2017, when he was appointed to temporarily fill the Senate vacancy left by now-Attorney General Jeff Sessions. To permanently fill the seat, a special election will be held on Dec. 12, with the primary scheduled for Aug. 15.

During his career, Strange has fought tirelessly for the rights of gun owners, opposing every attempt to ban lawfully owned firearms and magazines. He voted to confirm pro-gun Judge Neil Gorsuch to the U.S. Supreme Court, and to strike the Obama administration Social Security gun ban. During his short time in the Senate, Strange has cosponsored measures concerning national Right-to-Carry reciprocity and the deregulation of suppressors.

Due to his sterling record, NRA-PVF has awarded him an A+ rating. “As a champion for gun owners … Sen. Strange is the right person to succeed Jeff Sessions as U.S. senator,” said NRA-PVF chairman Chris W. Cox.
