The latest example is Maine, where Legislative Document 9 just passed unanimously in the state Senate. Sponsored by Republican state Rep. Patrick Corey, this bill would outlaw the establishment of a list of firearms, or a list of firearm owners, by any government or political subdivision of the state of Maine. Since nationwide registries are already prohibited by federal law, LD 9 would give Mainers the reassurance of knowing their rights, including the right to privacy, are protected at every level.
LD 9 now returns to the Maine House. We will keep you up to date on this measure as it progresses.
