NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris W. Cox joined NRATV’s Stinchfield Friday to discuss the importance of the Second Amendment in the wake of Wednesday’s attack on Republican Congressmen. “This is a punch to the gut to America—not just gun owners, not just Republicans, but to all of us,” Cox said. “It’s one thing to have the violent radical left, with violent speech. It’s another thing to take it to the next level.”
The NRA’s chief lobbyist said that because of this “despicable” attack, “people are starting to have an organic and a very logical and natural conversation about self-defense.”
Cox says that while members of Congress and their staff should be afforded the right to properly defend themselves, so should their constituents. “That’s what concealed carry reciprocity is all about,” Cox said. “It’s a logical next step in our right to defend ourselves. And as we’ve seen, whether it’s in Tennessee or we saw a couple days ago in Virginia, when good people have the ability to defend themselves, bad people have to reconsider.”
