After months of planning and preparation, the big day is finally here.
The Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race kicks off Saturday at Bristol Motor Speedway, and there are many reasons you won't want to miss it. One of the best reasons is quite significant: It will be Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s final race as a driver.
A NASCAR legend, Earnhardt is quite fond of Bristol and the Night Race.
“It’s just good short-track racing,” Earnhardt said. “And we don’t do a whole lot of that on the series these days, but it’s always kind of stayed true to itself. There’s a lot of things that change over time, and one of the things that doesn’t change is Bristol.”
Earnhardt added that the race is one that serious NASCAR fans shouldn’t miss.
“The racing there is pretty much the standard for short-track racing,” he said. “I can confidently tell people, when they ask me where they should go, that they should try Bristol out.”
Last year, nearly 100,000 race fans attended the event, and the 2017 race is expected to be even bigger and better. Drivers will gather at the “Last Great Colosseum” to tear through 500 heart-stopping laps around Bristol’s famed half-mile banked oval in what is sure to be one of the most electrifying races of the summer.
And take note: NRA members can save money on tickets!
