Back by popular demand, NRA’s Mobile Tactical Range Experience also returned to Bristol, this time featuring AR-15s and P320 handguns from SIG Sauer, as well as the revolutionary training ammo system developed by Ultimate Training Munitions (UTM).
Thanks to SIG Sauer and UTM, race fans were treated to a fully operational shooting range with real firearms. Experienced personnel from NRA, UTM and SIG Sauer offered tips and ensured a safe experience.
Bristol’s aptly named Colossus display is suspended over the infield by four massive cables, strung from towers on the exterior of the stadium. Unlike your smart phone, its screens are bright enough to be seen in direct sunlight.
2017 marked the last appearance by Dale Earnhardt Jr. as a driver at the Bristol Night Race. BMS honored Junior by starting a scholarship program in his name, erecting an “It’s Bristol, baby!” sign in the Fan Zone and offering up a car for fans to cover with signatures and well-wishes.
Chris and his friends drove all the way from Michigan to attend the race in Bristol (their third in a row). While many fans came to see Junior’s last race, Chris is an unabashed Kyle Busch fan: “He wins!”
On August 19, NRA and Bass Pro Shops returned to Bristol Motor Speedway as cosponsors of the legendary Night Race, NASCAR’s celebration of breakneck speed and terrifying thunder. All of which would be spectacle enough for any race, but Bristol’s Night Race features the smallest track, and the largest venue, in the Monster Energy Series—at night.
When burnout smoke from Saturday night’s knife-fight-on-a-paper-clip had subsided, Kyle Busch had cemented his dominance of Bristol’s perilous banking by completing a sweep of the week’s races, winning Wednesday’s truck race and Friday’s Xfinity race, in addition to Saturday night’s Monster Energy Cup race.
