“Peaceful Communities” sounds like a harmless enough name for an organization, but the phrase that jumps out at you when you visit the organization's website—“Repeal the Second Amendment”—gives you a pretty good idea of what “peaceful” means to them.
This anti-Second Amendment organization plans to protest outside the NRA Carry Guard Expo today, as reported in the Wisconsin Gazette. “Guns are a plague that is doing great harm to Milwaukee and communities all across America,” said Lee Goodman, identified as the organizer of the event. (The Peaceful Communities website is largely focused on plugging Goodman’s book, which makes us wonder how many members there are besides him.)
Hopefully this protest won’t detract from the enjoyment of NRA Carry Guard Expo attendees, but extrapolating from the roughly 75 people who showed up to protest the NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits in Atlanta—or the 17 people who attended the only other Peaceful Communities protest we could find a record of—there shouldn’t be too much of a disturbance.
