This feature appears in the September ‘17 issue of NRA America’s 1st Freedom, one of the official journals of the National Rifle Association.

There is a violent movement in this country that threatens the very foundations of our freedom. And it comes, unmistakably, from the Left.

In the wake of President Donald Trump’s inauguration, which was marred by disgraceful acts of violence from radical leftists on the streets of Washington, D.C., and elsewhere, I recorded a video on behalf of the NRA.

In this video, I described the real and documented acts of leftist violence committed in the wake of last year’s election: Burning cars and buildings, smashing windows, illegal rioting in the streets, disrupting airports and brutally assaulting innocent people.

This video, mind you, was released long before a deranged leftist lunatic, incited by the violence of lies perpetuated by the Left, opened fire on U.S. congressmen on a baseball field, explicitly because they were Republicans.

So let me be perfectly clear: Not only do I not retract a single word from that video, I’m proud of it. I endorse it.There is no way to sugarcoat it: When the peaceful election of a president inspires violence that a piece of a political movement justifies as free expression and dissent, that is a threat to American values. The violent leftist movement is a proven threat to American freedom and American safety.

So let me be perfectly clear: Not only do I not retract a single word from that video, I’m proud of it. I endorse it. Because I denounce and condemn violence.

In response to my video, which features actual video footage of the violent Left committing violence against people and property, the radical elements of that philosophy have proven me right again. In recent days, I have received countless death threats from the same group of people that condones outrageous acts of violence, property destruction and other illegal acts in the name of “resistance.”

They’ve called me a Nazi, the Antichrist and far, far worse. They’ve stuffed my mailbox with photos of dead bodies. They’ve intimidated and harassed my family over the phone.

Their claim that my video is an incitement of violence is not just false, it’s astonishing.

Here’s what I said in the video: “The only way we fight this violence of lies is with the clenched fist of truth.”

Not death threats, like the violent Left sends me every day, but truth.

Not throwing smoke bombs and attempting to burn buildings, like the violent

Left did at the University of California at Berkeley in response to a conservative commentator peacefully speaking on campus, but truth.

It’s time the truth was told about the violence this movement condones and encourages. Not smashing storefronts, like the violent Left did all over this country following the election of Trump, but truth.

Not violent riots and lies about “hands up, don’t shoot,” but truth.

It’s time the truth was told about the violence this movement condones and encourages.

The Washington Post claims that “Democracy dies in darkness,” and I don’t disagree.

I pray that the death of democracy will not come at the hands of this violent leftist movement, protected by a media machine that silently condones its actions by refusing to give it the coverage and condemnation it deserves.

The morally corrupt people who treat violence as an acceptable form of political expression represent an all-out attack on the Constitution and the principles of free speech, tolerance and honest debate.

The idea that violence on behalf of politics is ever acceptable is a violent lie, just as the idea that the election of Trump justifies the attempted assassination of congressmen is a violent lie.

No, I’m not inciting violence. I’m condemning violence. And I ask all who share that condemnation to join me in meeting this violent movement with a clenched fist of truth
