Temporarily stalled by regulatory issues, the merger between the two sporting-goods retailers began moving forward again earlier this month. Now they have announced the completion of the deal.
FOX Business reports that Cabela’s will continue to operate as a separate brand. “As we move forward, we are committed to retaining everything customers love about both Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s by creating a ‘best-of-the-best’ experience that includes the superior products, outstanding customer service and exceptional value our customers have come to expect,” said Bass Pro Shops founder CEO Johnny Morris. “We’re also deeply motivated by the potential to significantly advance key conservation initiatives.”
Morris has been a trustworthy friend to the NRA—as one example, the NRA National Sporting Arms Museum is housed in the flagship Bass Pro Shops store in Springfield, Mo.—and to the Second Amendment. Cabela’s has also proved a good steward of gun rights, and gun owners can expect that both brands will continue to have their backs moving forward.
