Iowa Revises Ban on Guns in Courthouses

In a victory for law-abiding gun owners in the Hawkeye State, the Iowa Supreme Court has scaled back the state’s earlier-enacted ban on guns in courthouses.

The state’s high court in late December said it will allow guns to be carried into county courthouses, with some restrictions. The decision is partially up to the local governing bodies, which must file a written request before getting the authority to allow guns in the public areas of their courthouses.

The new court order came just months after a ban on guns in courthouses took effect.
