It’s time to fill in the blank. “(Blank) donates X million to (blank) race.” And when it comes to looking at the big donors, the first “blank” gets filled by the name of an anti-gun group or elitist who has no qualms about buying elections. The second “blank” just identifies one of the contests they are targeting.
It’s no surprise that the Giffords group’s story is in lockstep with Steyer’s, with news reports indicating that the congressional district battle between Republican U.S. Rep. Mike Coffman and Democrat Jason Crow is that agency’s biggest outlay of the election season.
And we’ll undoubtedly see more such reports elsewhere.
It’s no secret that money greases the gears in the political machine, but the 2018 midterms seem to have exponentially higher stakes as billionaires and the gun control groups they fund are dumping huge amounts of money into state and federal races. If you need more evidence of the full-throttle effort to buy votes, one need only consider that the two aforementioned cases are just those entities’ largest efforts. In other words, they represent just the tip of the iceberg.
It’s an all-out effort to flip enough seats at the federal levels so Democrats can move their Nanny-state agenda forward: You know most of the items on their to-do list. One is to repeal the Second Amendment, or at least watering it down so much that it means nothing.
People who say the midterms don’t matter obviously don’t know how much is at stake in this election. But NRA members do. With the threats to gun rights (and other freedoms we hold dear), it’s more important than ever to vote.
And don’t discount the state races, like your governor’s race, because your state’s chief executive plays a huge role when it comes to firearms. Check out the story by NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris W. Cox in the November issue of your NRA magazine for details on that. Steyer obviously knows how important a state’s top spot is, so you should, too.
Don’t sit idly by and watch the anti-gunners grab the reins. Go to the polls Nov. 6 and let your collective voice tell the liberals how much we value our constitutional freedoms.
