Free AR-15’s for Rabbis to Protect Religious Freedom

Mel Bernstein has a response to the shooting at a Jewish synagogue in Pittsburgh. Bernstein, the owner of gun range and gun retailer in Colorado Springs, Colo., says any local rabbi who would like to protect his temple can come in for a free AR-15 and ammunition.

The recipients will be vetted and will have to pass a background check, but Bernstein will do whatever else he can to help them protect people who are exercising their First Amendment rights by teaching them how to employ the Second Amendment.

The businessman, in a local news video, likens the need to have a gun to protect against active shooters to having a fire extinguisher to fight a fire.

Bernstein said he is also willing to provide free training to a rabbi who might prefer to use a handgun.

The decision comes in response to the deadly shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh.
