Not long after President Donald Trump revealed the name of his nominee to fill Justice Anthony Kennedy’s seat on the Supreme Court, the gun control folks were demanding that Judge Brett Kavanaugh make it clear where he stands on gun rights.
“We don’t have to guess when it comes to Judge Kavanaugh’s track record on gun laws—he’s made it quite clear where he stands,” Brady Campaign Co-President Avery Gardiner said. “… We call on Judge Kavanaugh to tell the American people clearly and plainly how he interprets the Second Amendment.”
Talk about doublespeak. Didn’t anybody tell Gardiner that, as Cam Edwards points out in a recent video, Kavanaugh has already “made it quite clear where he stands.” He wrote a dissent in 2011 in a case that became known as Heller II, a case before the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit that pertained to gun registration in the nation’s capital. That speaks for itself.
