After the excitement and camaraderie of the NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits, I’m always eager to find more ways to get together with my fellow NRA members. Fortunately, there are a couple of events coming up in my neck of the woods, and I can’t wait to spend some more quality time with tens of thousands of my fellow Second Amendment defenders.
The Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race in Bristol, Tenn., is set for Aug. 18 at the Bristol Motor Speedway. It’s going to be a great race, and you should really experience the energy and atmosphere at the track for yourself. Lots of folks spend the weekend or even the entirety of race week there in the Bristol area, and I’ve talked to NRA members from across the country who make an annual pilgrimage to the event.
Even closer to my home near Farmville, Va., the NRA Carry Guard Expo is set for Sept. 14-16 at the Greater Richmond Convention Center in Richmond, Va. With more than 100 seminars, a concealed-carry fashion show and vendors from across the nation specializing in personal defense, the NRA Carry Guard Expo is an amazing resource for experienced gun owners as well as those exploring self-defense for the first time. Richmond is a great city with a vibrant dining and entertainment scene. And with several indoor ranges in the area, you can even take what you’ve learned at the NRA Carry Guard Expo and put in some practice over the weekend.
As we head into the November elections, which are going to be critically important for gun owners, I hope we can spend some summer moments together under the lights at the Last Great Colosseum in Bristol and wandering the aisles of the NRA Carry Guard Expo. These events provide an opportunity to entertain and educate ourselves, but they’re also chances for us, as gun owners and NRA members, to engage with others and encourage them to stand and fight for our rights at the ballot box this fall.
