NRA Accepting Applications for Women’s Wildlife Management Scholarships

posted on August 23, 2018

The NRA Women’s Policy Committee is accepting applications for a one-year $5,000 scholarship for women who are looking to pursue a career related to wildlife management. The deadline for all applications is Nov. 1.

Last year’s recipient, Emily Tripp, serves as a prime example of someone who took advantage of the scholarship to help her advance her educational and professional goals and also to give back to the community by promoting conservation.

Tripp, who hopes to be a full-time game warden in Maine after she graduates from Unity College, spent her summer working as a deputy game warden in the southern part of the state. Her duties included: making sure those who were fishing had licenses, ensuring safe operation of watercraft, and educating the public about boat safety and conservation’s role in managing fish populations.

Applicants must be majoring in wildlife management or conservation, and they must have a 3.0 GPA.  The scholarship will be awarded in January.
