Helping prevent you from violating another state’s firearms laws is a guidebook containing both legislative changes from 2018 and information about requirements in 50 states.

The 23rd edition, with changes in the law for 2018, of the “Traveler’s Guide to the Firearm Laws of the Fifty States” provides an outline of legal pitfalls to avoid when traveling from state to state while carrying firearms.

“Many horror stories exist in which the nonresident traveler is arrested on a firearm felony charge for a violation that wouldn’t qualify as a misdemeanor in the traveler’s home state. A routine traffic stop suddenly degenerates into a nightmare journey through the criminal justice system,” noted the guide, written and researched by J. Scott Kappas.

Featuring a checklist and scale ranking each state from total prohibition to total freedom, it also contains a section on travel to Canada and Mexico.

A new section in the “Traveler’s Checklist” details each state’s rules about possession requirements for people with ammunition.

The states listed in the guide with changes in their state firearms laws for 2018 are: Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

The guidebook, priced individually at $14.95, is available at: gunlawguide.com.
