A man in a Natchez, Miss., Walmart became irate over a self-checkout machine “shorting him” 21 cents on July 3. A witness tried to de-escalate the situation by offering to reimburse the irate man the amount he believed he was shorted.

A couple driving their vehicle through a Walmart parking lot in Fresno, Calif., slowed as a man approached them for unknown reasons. The husband got out of their vehicle, and the stranger suddenly charged at him with a knife, causing him to back up several yards.

On the evening of May 21, a 33-year-old man walked into a barber shop in Riverside, Calif., apparently intent on causing harm. According to the Riverside Police Department, the suspect, an ex-employee, started a fight with a former co-worker.

In Pearland, Texas, on the night of April 17, a couple had just gone to bed when they heard a loud noise coming from downstairs. The husband grabbed his pistol and investigated.

In the early morning hours of Sunday, Feb. 21, two female roommates were asleep in their North Philadelphia home when they were suddenly awakened by a crashing sound.

On the night of Jan. 23, a father and mother inside their home heard their daughter screaming outside. The parents ran out and found a horrific scene. Their daughter was being attacked by her 26-year-old boyfriend, and was bleeding from her mouth and face.

On the night of Dec. 13, 2020, in Nicetown, Pa., two men stopped to get gas but became the victims of an attempted carjacking. While the driver was pumping gas, the passenger of his vehicle went inside the gas station.

On the evening of Nov. 3, 2020, in Lauderdale Lakes, Fla., a concealed-carry permit holder was forced to draw and use his firearm to protect himself and another person. The victims were approached by two armed men who attempted to rob them. Fearing for his life, the concealed-carry permit holder shot at the suspected robbers, wounding one of them.

On Oct. 11, 2020, three males forcibly entered a Monroe, La., home wearing hoodies and brandishing firearms while demanding money from a man inside the home. When the victim refused, one of the armed intruders struck him several times on the head with his gun.
