A battle-hardened Marine has been chosen to lead the National Rifle Association’s efforts to save the Second Amendment.

The Second Amendment is for everyone. You have read these words in my columns before. Our Second Amendment-guaranteed civil liberties offer us a choice for protecting ourselves, protecting our families and protecting the communities that make up the unique fabric of our country.

Sometimes, correcting injustice takes a little longer than it should. After 111 years, this New York law was finally struck down by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Now is the time to stand with the "brick wall" of NRA members and fight back against revolving-door-justice policies that continue to make our city streets dangerous.

Without the NRA's members, there is no National Rifle Association. And without their advocacy, the Second Amendment, the shooting sports and our hunting heritage would be non-existent.

As you and I survey the current landscape surrounding our Second Amendment freedom in this country, it’s impossible not to be optimistic and proud of what we’ve all accomplished together as NRA members.

You know it as well as I do—politicians let you down. Principles never do. And it’s by fighting on principle that the National Rifle Association is the oldest and most successful civil rights organization in the history of mankind.

The last two months of the year represent a traditional time for all Americans to reflect on the blessings in their lives, even amid a pandemic. During this time, many of us give thanks for all we have received.

The year 2020 will be remembered as one of many ups and downs, both for gun owners and for the country at large.
