You’ve probably noticed how mainstream-media outlets play up stories of firearms accidents all the time, while usually ignoring stories of citizens using guns properly to defend themselves.

In times of national peril, and when our rights are under immediate legislative threat, more Americans tend to buy guns.

The mainstream media likes to insinuate that the NRA is a partisan organization.

This mindset makes it difficult, even impossible, to have reasonable, fact-based discussions with them about what can be done to make our society even safer.

Perhaps, given their career choice, the criminologists are simply more aware of the fact that, statistically speaking, people with concealed-carry permits basically don’t commit crimes.

The politics here, however, are hardly inevitable; in fact, many signs point the other way.

An opinion piece in The Atlantic, titled “A Constitutional Case for Gun Control,” showed how tangled the mainstream media’s narrative on guns is nationally.

The mainstream media purposely ignores reality to give Americans a narrative that backs gun control over gun rights.

If we want people to know the truth about violent crimes and the inverse relationship between the numbers of firearms compared to violent-crime rates, we must tell our fellow citizens ourselves.
