Social Security Administration Ignores Congressional Deadline

posted on August 8, 2015

The NRA-backed bill sponsored by Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, with the purpose of defending the rights of veterans and retirees, looks especially necessary now. A letter sent to Social Security Acting Commissioner Carolyn Colvin by members of the House Ways and Means Committee expressed strong concerns over indications that up to 4.2 million beneficiaries might be reported to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) and declared “prohibited” persons. The representatives requested a response by July 31.

Unsurprisingly, that deadline has come and gone with no response at all from the Social Security Administration. Any thought that the agents of Obama’s covert gun-grabbing plan would play nice should be dispelled by this disrespectful silence.
