NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre issues a singular challenge to President Barack Obama in this provocative video on NRA News. When the president held a staged “town hall” meant to convey the impression of consensus on gun control, he attacked the NRA for not playing along. Now LaPierre calls on President Obama to follow through on his big talk and hold a one-on-one debate on neutral ground.

“Americans are growing more and more sick and tired of Barack Obama,” LaPierre announces. With his tireless mission to expand the power of the executive branch over Congress and the court system, “The president has laid waste to the America we remember.”

“Arrest. Prosecution. Fines. Prison.” These are the tools that LaPierre says the president is using to intimidate ordinary Americans into falling in line. With vaguely defined rules for when background checks are required, he hopes to have a chilling effect on all gun sales in this country.

So the president’s calculation is clear: Destroy the NRA before the election, so Hillary can destroy the Second Amendment after it. That is why we won’t get suckered into any of Obama’s fixed fights.

President Obama sounded off during his “town hall” about his supposed willingness to talk with the NRA. So LaPierre has this to say:

Mr. President, pre-screened questions that lead to your long-winded answers are anything but an honest dialogue. But I’ll tell you what: I’ll meet you for a one-on-one, one-hour debate with a mutually agreed-upon moderator, on any network that will take it. No pre-screened questions and no gas-bag answers. Americans will judge for themselves who they trust and believe on this issue—you or the NRA.

The challenge has been issued. Will President Obama live up to his tough talk? Stay tuned—and watch the entirety of Wayne LaPierre’s blistering response to the president’s lies!
