I Am Forever: Immortal Mountain

The seventh episode of “I Am Forever” Season 2, sponsored by FNH USA, continues the theme of “no reward without risk,” as the backpackers rise on Day 4, their earliest morning yet, and fight through muscle soreness on a cross-country vertical trek.

Their destination is a scenic 200-foot cliff face, but they aren’t making the climb for the view: One by one, they’ll be rappelling back down. Shortly after the group reaches the top, the ladies are given a length of rope and taught a series of knots. In true “I Am Forever” style, there isn’t a nylon strap or carabiner in sight—which means that the quality of their knots could mean the difference between a fun and successful rappelling adventure and a stumble down the rocky vertical wall to the ground 18 stories below.

While the backpackers are confronting their fears on a far-flung mountaintop, Nick paints a more symbolic picture of these natural wonders—how many years ago they helped to shape his ideas of time and immortality, and inspired him to discover what he believes is each person’s most important legacy, the love and kindness we show to our neighbors.

Back on the range, Caylen Wojcik demonstrates a safe and successful magazine reload in preparation for a lesson on refining aim. With his guidance, Faith adjusts her foot position and minimizes movement, and her shot placement improves by a noticeable margin.
