Do civilians with guns ever stop mass shootings? According to a recent article by Washington Post columnist and UCLA constitutional law professor Eugene Volokh, the answer is yes.

Earlier this year, a Chicago Uber driver with a concealed-carry permit shot and wounded a gunman who opened fire on a crowd of people. Another man, also with a concealed-carry permit, shot Warren Edwards after he started shooting in a Philadelphia barbershop. Last year, Richard Plotts shot and killed his psychiatric caseworker and wounded his psychiatrist, Lee Silverman, in a Pennsylvania hospital. Silverman shot back and took down Plotts.

These are just a few listed by Volokh, and he concludes that compelling and heroic examples certainly exist for those who are actually looking.
