Cracking Down On Crime? Chicago Kids Can’t Buy Cowgirl Play Set

posted on October 19, 2016

Chicago has been in the news all year for its sky-high homicide rate. Just last week, we reported that the death toll was rapidly nearing 600. Given all of the onerous gun restrictions on the books, the Windy City is single-handedly proving the futility of gun control.

Yet the city that once banned handguns and concealed carry continues to ban, of all things, toy guns. Amazon shoppers looking to purchase a Cowgirl Playset—consisting of a pink cowgirl hat, toy replica gun and sheriff badge—found out it couldn’t be shipped to the Chicago area.

Apparently, a city municipal code bans the possession of any object that “a person could reasonably perceive as an actual firearm but that is incapable of being fired.” Violators are subject to a $500 fine and up to six months in jail.

Congratulations, Chicago. This latest effort to crack down on little girls’ playtime will, no doubt, have a big impact on the city’s escalating murder rate.
