Convicted Felon Killed After Forcing Entry Into Ex-Girlfriend’s Home

posted on July 19, 2016

Patrick Dewayne Decker of Leitchfield, Ky., had a lengthy rap sheet that included rape, kidnapping, assault and burglary. He also had an outstanding domestic violence order that forbade him from seeing an ex-girlfriend. She had told police she feared for her life and that of her 11-year-old son.

Decker’s restraining order was recently amended to allow him to stay in his parents’ home, which is next door to his former girlfriend. The courts and his family all begged him to stay away from her home—but Decker apparently couldn’t resist.

On Saturday night, he went next door and began banging on her windows and doors, and eventually broke down the front door and forced his way in. Fortunately, she was prepared for the event she had long dreaded, and she fired several shots at Decker. He fled and collapsed in the driveway, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
