On Tuesday afternoon, a woman pulled up to her O’Fallon, Mo., home only to find a strange man standing in the driveway. Local police say the man approached her car, trying to engage in an altercation.
As the man attacked the woman, she fled into her house, retrieved her gun and fired multiple times at the intruder who had entered the house behind her, killing him. The name of the suspected intruder has not been released, but reports say the he looked to be in his 30s and that the woman did not recognize him.
A police officer told Fox 2 Now, “We responded to a call of a burglary in progress. While in route, we were informed that the victim shot the subject, who she had a confrontation with, inside of her house.” The incident was unnerving for residents who couldn’t drive home for a time after the shooting, while school bus drop-offs were also rerouted.
Hillary Wants Gun Bans, But “That Doesn’t Mean I Want To Abolish The Second Amendment”
In Philadelphia on Tuesday, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton responded to an NRA ad referring to her statement that the Supreme Court’s decision in Heller was “wrong.” (Heller confirmed an individual right to keep a firearm in the home for self-defense.)
“That doesn’t mean I want to abolish the Second Amendment,” Clinton pronounced before calling for comprehensive background checks that don’t stop criminals or mass murderers, closing mythical “loopholes” for sales at gun shows and online, and denying lawful citizens the right to buy a firearm until they can prove they shouldn’t have been placed on a terror watch list by government bureaucrats.
In other words, Clinton is like a deranged Jack Nicholson in “The Shining”: “I said, I’m not gonna hurt ya. I’m just going to bash your brains in.” Reasonable people are not persuaded by such verbal antics.
Put the bat down, Hillary.
Trump: Black Americans Deserve Same 2A Protection Hillary Gets
Speaking in West Bend, Wis., on Thursday, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump pointed out again just how insulated and dismissive Hillary Clinton is of the concerns of most Americans, as she takes around-the-clock armed security as her due, even while seeking to deprive African-Americans and other minorities of that same constitutional protection, Breitbart reports.
“It’s easy for Hillary Clinton to turn a blind eye to crime when she has her own private security force that, by the way, carries guns,” Trump said, before drawing a contrast between himself and Clinton: “I believe all Americans—not just the powerful—are entitled to security.”
The necessity of an armed populace to the security of a free state has been a frequent touchstone of the Trump presidential campaign. As Trump noted, armed citizens might have cut short the Paris terrorist attacks that killed 130 people because, where good people are armed, “bullets go both ways.”
Missouri Gun-Control Lobby Working Overtime To Prevent Override On Permitless Carry
Back in June, Democratic Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon vetoed a gun measure, Senate Bill 656, that would have allowed “permitless” carry in the state. Despite having passed the legislature with overwhelming support, Nixon claimed the bill would result in “dramatic steps backward for public safety.”
Next month, the Missouri General Assembly is scheduled to reconvene for a veto session in which pro-gun lawmakers will work to override the governor’s veto. It’s drawn the attention of Michael Bloomberg, who has his anti-gun groups Everytown and Moms Demand Action claiming that SB 656 will allow someone who isn’t legally allowed to own a gun to carry a gun. Of course, this is simply untrue—but these groups have never let a small thing like facts stand in the way.

Hunters Saving Louisiana Flood Victims
While it’s popular in some circles to condemn hunting and hunters, victims of Louisiana’s severe flooding crisis likely won’t be doing so anytime soon.
According to a report at NOLA.com, as thousands of people in and around Baton Rouge were stranded inside—sometimes even on top of—their homes, hunters and fishermen launched their boats and transported residents to safety.
Locals call the help the “Cajun Navy,” a term used when hunters did similar heroic duty after Hurricane Katrina. And it is dangerous work. "There have been several situations where the current has been so strong coming down some of these streets that it's dangerous to try to get a boat down them," said Chris Macaluso, a Baton Rouge resident who used his own boat to help get neighbors to dry ground. "(The volunteers) are risking a lot to help these people, and I know people in this part of Baton Rouge and all over really appreciate it."
Pennsylvania County To Arm Coroner’s Deputies, Plans Training
Deputy coroners in Pennsylvania’s Washington County will soon be carrying handguns when sent to the scenes of fatalities, as authorities fear that many of those situations could lead to further violence and mayhem, the Uniontown Herald-Standardreports.
Coroner Timothy Warco, who has carried a firearm for decades, noted that he and his deputies were sent to 73 drug-overdose deaths last year, many of which involved heroin, where individuals “are concerned not so much about the deceased, but about where the drugs are hidden.” In addition, he said, they had also been dispatched to homicides where “crowds of rowdy, intoxicated people” present a threat to officials.
So, at Warco’s request, county commissioners have approved firearm training for both of his deputies. Meanwhile, coroners’ deputies in neighboring Westmoreland County—who had reported feeling endangered on the job, particularly when making death notifications—have been armed while on duty for nearly three years.
