Several schools will each get money. Hampton Elementary School received $9,995; Hunter Elementary received $9,595; Unaka Elementary received $5,995; Happy Valley High received $4,010; Little Milligan Elementary received $3,200; and Unaka High received $3,000.
The money will help the schools purchase security cameras, reflective glass and other products, as needed. The school system has until May to buy and install the security devices.
School Shield funding comes primarily from the NRA Foundation, which holds banquets and auctions throughout the year to raise money to protect our Second Amendment right.
