This feature appears in the May ‘17 issue of NRA America’s 1st Freedom, one of the official journals of the National Rifle Association.

This Remington Model 700/MK 12 rifle was used by actor Bradley Cooper during his portrayal of U.S. Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle in the 2014 film, “American Sniper.” During the time this .300 Win. Mag. bolt-action was shown on screen, Cooper was depicting Kyle’s first tour in Iraq, where his rifle carried a Nightforce scope and a Knight’s Armament M110 suppressor. While the Clint Eastwood directed film was nominated for six Academy Awards, the production would receive only one Oscar: for Best Achievement in Sound Editing.

This rifle is presently on loan to the National Firearms Museum from Independent Studio Services (ISS).
