The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (CSGV) is so blinded by its hatred for gun-rights groups that it is launching a petition to cancel a grant awarded by the Department of Justice to the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) for its free gun lock program. You read that right—an anti-gun group opposes locking up guns.
“No taxpayer in America should have to foot the bill for a profit-focused lobby looking to improve its public image,” the CSGV decries. They urge supporters to tell DOJ to “find a better partner for gun violence prevention.”
NSSF’s Larry Keane isn’t surprised that CSGV is politicizing the grant. And he reminds everyone who the leaders are in firearm safety education: “Through efforts like PCS [NSSF’s Project ChildSafe] and other programs like the NRA’s Eddie Eagle program, firearm accidents continue to decline to the lowest level since recordkeeping began over a century ago.”
