Arkansas Lawmaker Pushing Campus Carry

posted on November 15, 2016

A Republican state legislator in Arkansas plans to make campus carry a big issue again next year in the Natural State.

State Rep. Charlie Collins of Fayetteville believes that since Republicans picked up more seats in the state legislature in last week’s election, supporters might have the votes needed to get a measure, which has failed in the past, passed during the 2017 session.

“By enabling the good guy and a good gal who may have a concealed-carry permit to actually be present, it makes the would-be murderer think twice,” Collins told KARK in Little Rock.

The last time campus carry was considered in Arkansas, during the 2015 legislative session, the measure was passed by the House but died in the state Senate.
