In the sort of “good guy with a gun” incident that gun-haters like Moms Demand Action head Shannon Watts insist never happen, an armed citizen on Sunday shot and killed a masked man who was attacking a 7-Eleven store clerk with an ax.

According to Fox News reports, a masked man entered the White Center, Wash., store early Sunday and attacked the clerk. That’s when the customer, a 60-year-old concealed-carry permit holder, pulled out his pistol and shot the attacker.

The motive for the attack is unclear, according to local police. “This could have been a lot worse,” King County Sheriff’s Sergeant Cindi West told KCPQ. “The clerk could be the one laying there dead on the floor right now.”
