A Houston man is injured but thankfully still alive after using his firearm to fight off a home invasion suspect early Wednesday morning.

According to local media, the victim and his two roommates were at their apartment when the suspect forced his way inside as one of the residents was arriving home and unlocking the door. As the suspect held the men at gunpoint and tried to rob them, one of the residents grabbed his own gun and exchanged shots with the invader.

The suspect fled the scene, and police are unsure whether he was injured in the exchange. The wounded resident was taken to a nearby hospital, and his condition has not been released.
