A Kansas City woman used her firearm to stop a violent home invasion late Wednesday night.

According to local police, the homeowner heard loud banging on her front door at about 11 p.m. She couldn’t see who was at the door, so she got her gun out just in case. When the man knocked in the door and came after her, the homeowner shot the man, killing him and ending the attack.

The homeowner, who neighbors said walks with a cane, was questioned and later released from custody.
